Communication LAB for RNs:  Listening

Most of us are familiar with the basic skills involved in effective listening yet opportunities for guided
practice are not always available.  The challenging aspects of listening lie more in the ability to practice
them in the real world than having an intellectual grasp of them.  Join communication and conflict
management specialist, Beth Boynton, RN, MS in this simulation lab as we review the basic components of
listening and discuss the barriers and challenges nurses face in clinical settings.  We will combine
role-playing, coaching, reflection and discussion of prepared simulations.  Participants will have
opportunities to offer real life scenarios for feedback, trial and practice.  This course meets NHBN
requirements for Continuing Competence:
3 Contact Hours.

Objectives:

•        Develop concrete skills to promote
